About Me

Just an introverted doctor from Cape Town, South Africa πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦ Sharing my love of books and reading with others who feel the same way πŸ“–

I am in no way a professional blogger, so please be kind πŸ™πŸ» I first started my bookstagram account @reading_untamed as a way to keep track of all the amazing books I have read. I soon realized that a caption is not always long enough to express all of the thoughts and opinions I have about the book. So here we are, my very own book blog πŸ˜ƒ exciting

I contemplated long and hard about whether I should start a blog, just as I did with my bookstagram account. After I took the bookstagram plunge, I realized it was one of the best things I could have ever done. I have connected with so many amazing book lovers and bloggers in such a short space of time (almost 5 months ago). I have also taken part in read alongs and buddy reads, things I had never done before.

So what do I want to get out of this? It’s simple. This is a fun and relaxed space to share my reviews and thoughts on some of my favourite reads and hopefully help others find some new exciting books. Of course we all evolve and grow and who knows what may happen in the future, I certainly didn’t see myself doing this 5 months ago and I am super excited to see what lies ahead.

One thing you will notice is that I always have butterflies in my pictures and my rating icons are butterflies, this has special meaning to me as I have SLE (more commonly known as lupus). The butterfly is the symbol of Hope πŸ¦‹

β€œWe delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”

Maya Angelou

When writing my book reviews, I like to rate them out of 5πŸ¦‹ My ratings are as follows:

5πŸ¦‹- amazing/excellent/mind-blowing!

4πŸ¦‹- really liked it

3πŸ¦‹- good, some faults/aspects I didn’t enjoy, but would still recommend

2πŸ¦‹- didn’t like

1πŸ¦‹- really didn’t like/would never recommend

So if you are reading this, thank you for taking the time to check out my blog and hopefully you will find some exciting books to add to your TBR lists πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•
