Erin Kennedy lives in a seaside town with her detective husband, Danny. She moved from her hometown in Ireland, after a family tragedy and now she has a wonderful life and an amazing husband. Then one day, Danny jumps to his death from their apartment after his police colleagues show up at his door. Eighteen months later, Erin is in court and charged with her husband’s murder. After learning things she never could have imagined about Danny, Erin realizes that her life was not so perfect after all.
Don’t you just hate it when you get into a reading slump? What helps me to get out of one is finding an exciting thriller that keeps me hooked. The Perfect Lie, is exactly the kind of book to do just that! I loved how fast-paced it was without feeling rushed. You will be questioning everyone throughout the story.
Danny looked guilty as he walked to that window. What did my husband have to be guilty about?
Imagine waking up thinking it’s just a normal day and then within the hour your spouse has jumped to their death from your apartment balcony. The story put emphasis on how everything can change in just a moment and how fragile life can be.
We also learn that this is not first time she has gone through the trauma of losing someone close to her and we find out how it ties into the story and how those involved are all connected to what has taken place. Sadly, Erin’s life and her husband Danny were not as perfect as she thought and he had secrets that she couldn’t have ever imagined.
The chapters alternate between the past and present and ties together so well at the end!The characters are so well written and I loved their development as the story progressed.
This is such a binge-worthy book and will have you at the edge of your seat right until the end.
